I have to admit I only saw SummerSlam starting with the end of the Kane vs Khali match. I had bought it online but forgot the WWE, like so many other companies, has yet to make things Mac friendly and when I went to use my dad's PC to watch it, there was a problem caused by the fact that I had bought it on my mac that took an hour to resolve. Thankfully the people at their tech support got it figured out so it wasn't a complete waste of my tip money from work. I got to see the matches I really wanted to see so it's good.
I have to say I like seeing Kane in a feud with another big guy for once. As I've said before on here, him vs high flyers was getting REALLY old REALLY fast. Not too sure if I like this specific story line, but at least he's against another big guy. Now if they could put him against a more athletic big guy I would be happier. Khali serves his purpose as the giant on the roster but he's not exactly fast. They have faster big guys that could go against Kane at make some decent if not good big guy vs. big guy matches. At least it's a step in the right direction with his character although they still need to figure out something new to do with him.
The return of DX made me happy. I missed most of their entrance because there was a bad lag but at least once the match started the lag disappeared so I was able to actually watch it. I have to give Legacy credit because it was a good match on both sides. I'm still annoyed more than anything else with Legacy simply because of the fact that it's become to mini Ortons and I don't like Orton to begin with, but they put on a good show with DX. I must admit I'd rather have DX vs Legacy than DX vs the Spirit Squad. Legacy may be irritating but the Spirit Squad drove me nuts. At least with Legacy there is potential in both of them if they could just kick the whole imitating Orton in the ring thing they've got going on.
Now I have to admit the match between Christian and Regal was disappointing in how short it is because I really like Christian but it also served it's purpose in being so short as a new stable of sorts was solidified in Regal, Koslov, and Jackson. Hopefully they will actually turn this into a real stable and not just occasional allies because they could use some good solid stables aside from Legacy and the Hart Dynasty (who I personally don't think are being used to their full potential which makes me angry). I was having this conversation with
lisalionheart a few days, the WWE is desperately lacking when it comes to stables. Although if they keep the ones they have forming going things are starting to get better in that department.
I am not a fan of Orton or Cena so I must admit I wasn't really all that focused on their match. It was chaotic which is what they were going for and for a second there they almost had me convinced that was an actual fan that interrupted the match but that didn't last long. Although I do have to say I liked hearing Cena get booed, but it would have been even better if both of them had been booed because I don't like either one. The restarts of the match did keep my attention a little bit but when it's two wrestlers I couldn't care less about it's kind of hard to keep me focused.
I personally think the Cena and Orton match should have been much shorter to make for a longer match between Jeff Hardy and CM Punk if for no other reason than that was Hardy's last PPV for who knows how long. It wasn't a disappointment, but I would have liked to see more of them instead of seeing Cena and Orton for so long. While I am not a CM Punk fan, I have to admit he put on a hell of a show with Jeff Hardy last night. Hardy up on that HUGE ladder was kind of scary. I've climbed tall ladders before and I know how shaky they can get towards the top and I was a bit worried when he went for the Swanton that something would go wrong but thankfully it went off without a hitch. Sure they had the paramedics out there but they clearly weren't really needed although I have no doubt that both guys were pretty damn bruised up by the end of that match. Even though I knew Hardy was going to have to drop the belt it was still disappointing to see him lose to Punk just because I dislike Punk so much but they both put on a good show so I was very happy with the main event. I think it was a great last feud for Hardy to go out on because he leaves looking like an SUPER babyface.
The return of Undertaker at the end made me let out a pathetic fangirl-like squeal which thankfully no one in my house actually heard because they were watching TV in the other room. Undertaker is one of my all time favorites and I'm glad to see him back, and not only is he back but he chokeslammed CM Punk which made me happy in so many ways. Overall I wasn't disappointed by what I got to see of the PPV although I wish I could have seen the Ziggler vs Mysterio match. Guess I'll just have to wait til it comes out on DVD and get it on Netflix or something.
